Pet Dog Park Tips Overview
Visiting a pet friendly dog park can be a great experience for the pet and the owner. Social interaction and exercise are just a couple of reasons why pet dog parks can be great. For anyone thinking about a park visit, keep in mind that this experience does come with responsibility. Though not a comprehensive list of tips, this list will keep you thinking so that both you and your pet have a safe and enjoyable experience.

Pet Park Tip 1 - First Time Visitors

For all first-time dog park patrons, consider visiting the park without your pet. This will allow you to get a lay of the facility so you know what to expect. Talk to other dog owners during this trip and gather information. Ask if there have been problems with other dogs and try to determine what the peak and non-peak hours are. Remember, even dogs can get stressed and over-excited. Taking your pet during non peak hours may be a good way to ease your family member into the new experience. Just like people, dogs need some time to get comfortable with other dogs.

Pet Park Tip 2 - Pet Dog and Owner Injury Prevention
We like to think that are dogs will never be the problem child, but it happens. Work to prevent injuries to all park patrons by supervising your dog closely at all times. If your dog happens to inflict injury to any patron, provide you name and telephone number to the injured party. All owner’s are responsible for their dog’s actions. Prevention is key.

Pet Park Tip 3 - Pet Dog Waste
Picking up the result of your dog’s potty break is one of the single most important tips for those visiting pet dog parks. There are not an over abundance of dog parks so think of it as a treasure you want to protect. As pet owners, we need to promote the ongoing success of the dog parks. This means picking up after our dogs and even picking up after others who did not pickup after their dogs. Work on leaving the area cleaner than it was when you arrived. It’s a small price to pay for being allowed to enjoy parks with your dog.
